In the heart of East Texas, the Longview Lobos are no strangers to success. With legendary head coach John King leading the charge, the Lobos finished their 2024 season at 13-2, capturing both the District and Regional Championship titles, and came up just short in the semifinals. And for the first time, the storied program brought SkyCoach along for the ride—using the full power of our Platinum Plus replay system with three camera angles.
Longview is one of the many elite programs in Texas utilizing SkyCoach’s three-angle setup, a standard that’s quickly becoming the norm across the state for schools seeking a competitive edge. For the Lobos, it was a new tool that immediately made an impact.
“We found out about SkyCoach last spring when the Texas High School Coach Association and UIL agreed to go to the in-game video,” said Coach King, who holds a remarkable 234-50 record over two decades. “I went back to evaluate it with some of my friends in Louisiana that had used the SkyCoach product. We tested it out at our spring game, and basically fell in love with it. It's easy to use for technology-challenged people like myself—even I figured it out.”
That ease of use was key for a program built on execution and discipline. With more than 30 players coached into college scholarships—including nearly two dozen to FBS programs—King and his staff know the value of precision. SkyCoach helped provide just that.
“In-game as well as at halftime, we go back and look at the video and see how teams are attacking us or how I would need to attack teams,” King said. “It's a great product, no issues and everything they promised they've lived up to.”
Assistant coach Josh Rankin, who has his eyes on SkyCoach from the press box, echoed those sentiments after a smooth season-long experience.
“We used SkyCoach this past year. We got a test run through the spring game last year and everything worked smooth during the season. We didn't have any issues,” Rankin said. “I'm in the press box, it's an awesome deal to be able to see the play, look down, double check real quick—if you have some issues over a 20-series, whether it's alignment or a blocking scheme from the opponent, it's an easy way to check.”

Even weather couldn’t stop the Lobos or SkyCoach.
“We had a game where we played in a rainstorm and we had some issues with the antenna, and we got one next week before the next Friday's game,” Rankin added. “So the customer service was great, and we appreciate SkyCoach and it's helped us a lot.”
