Indiana Tech elevates game day with SkyCoach replay for basketball, volleyball

Indiana Institute of Technology is embracing the future of collegiate athletics with the integration of SkyCoach instant replay for its basketball and volleyball programs. What began as an addition to meet NAIA postseason hosting requirements has quickly become a valuable tool in the Warriors’ game-day setup—streamlining officiating, enhancing accuracy, and opening doors for further adoption across other sports and universities within the conferences.

Indiana Tech began running SkyCoach for basketball in mid-January. Instead of a full wireless system, the Warriors opted to do a partial hardwire in their gymnasium. “We honestly didn't utilize it as much as we wanted to this year just because it took so long to get somebody from our IT department to hardwire for it,” said Joel Kintigh, Indiana Tech’s Sports Information Director. “But once it was in place, it worked great.”

Their setup includes two permanent IP cameras mounted in opposite corners of the gym, providing clear views of both the baseline and sideline. The school has plans to expand to a third angle at center court, leveraging their existing Hudl Focus camera.

Although still new to replay, Indiana Tech has already seen its impact. “Every game that we had it available, the officials used it for something,” Kintigh explained. “Sometimes it was to check shot clock violations, other times to verify a shooter’s foot placement on three-point attempts. We even had one instance where a double foul was assessed after review.”

So far, usage has been just for official review rather than coaches, but the impact has been significant enough that both the basketball and volleyball programs are exploring more robust integration. “Our women’s volleyball coach has already been using it in spring scrimmages,” Joel noted. “Our head coach is a big proponent of making this conference-wide, and has been actively encouraging other teams to adopt it.”

“SkyCoach’s user friendly platform has been a great addition to our game day operation.  After a successful spring match utilizing the system (confirming two calls and overturning one), we are excited to implement the SkyCoach replay system into our home matches for the next season,” said Matt Fishman, Indiana Tech’s Women’s Volleyball head coach.

SkyCoach’s team has provided hands-on support throughout the setup process. “Their tech team is fantastic,” Kintigh said.

“SkyCoach has taken our facility and game day capabilities to another level,” explained Jessie Biggs, the Director of Athletics. “The ease of operation makes it workable for our game day staff and the detailed video quality exceeded our expectations for both volleyball and basketball.  We couldn’t be happier with the customer service, training and overall product of SkyCoach.”

SkyCoach is helping schools like Indiana Tech not only meet compliance standards but also raise the bar for fair, accurate, and professional game-day operations. As more conferences mandate replay for postseason hosting, and as programs look for affordable, reliable solutions, Indiana Tech stands as a great example of how SkyCoach can streamline the transition.

Whether it’s confirming a shot-clock call or enabling postseason opportunities, SkyCoach is proving that replay isn’t just for the biggest programs—it’s for any team serious about getting the call right.

SkyCoach provides flexible camera options, instant access to multi-angle video, and dependable support for staff and officials on game day. As demand continues to rise across sports beyond football, SkyCoach remains committed to delivering elite-level replay systems at a fraction of the cost of competitors.
